Confirmation hearings may be little more than Washington's own version of reality TV but I hope Senator Sessions will take his soliloquy about the independence of the attorney general and his commitment to the rule of law seriously. Indeed, his career demonstrates a prevailing hostility to the very rights and liberties that the nation's chief law enforcement officer must always promote and defend.
Sessions' hearings, which started Tuesday will continue till Wednesday. Session's character, but tore into Democrats who oppose him and turned a blind eye to the politicization of the Department of Justice during the prior 8 years under Barack Obama.

"The handful of people who might be even less equipped than Jeff Sessions to dispense justice on behalf of the American people typically spend their weekends wearing pointy hats and burning crosses", the political action committee's statement read.
Also on the panel supporting Sessions were former assistant U.S. Attorney Willie Huntley and former U.S. Marshal Jesse Seroyer. Contrary to Capitol Hill custom, none of them was recognized by the chair of the Judiciary Committee, Sen.
Booker was joined by members of the Congressional Black Caucus, in his opposition to Sessions' nomination, including civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis (D-Georgia).
Jeff Sessions doesn't believe in equality, which makes him completely unfit to be attorney general. The second one left some members of Congress insinuating that they'd been subject to racist treatment. "In particular, I have no reservations about Senator Sessions' ability to handle these issues fairly, and in accordance with the law and to protect the civil rights of these and all of our citizens".
After Trump named Sessions as his attorney-general pick, Schumer signaled his fellow senator would face tough questions, but that he would be open to considering him.
