French defender Theo Hernandez poised for Real Madrid move

Madrid or Barca? Theo prefers La Liga move to Premier League

The 19-year-old left-back passed the checkup successfully without any problems, reports Efe.

With all that in mind, Sport note that he's much closer to Barcelona than Real Madrid, which in turn would effectively rule Liverpool out of the running with The Mirror noting that Jurgen Klopp was also keen to snap him up this summer. But it is Real Madrid who look to have won the race, triggering his clause and agreeing a contract with the Marseille-born defender.

The move could bring an end to the "non-aggression pact" between the two Madrid clubs, who are said to have a gentleman's agreement not to sign players from each other.

The Sanitas La Moraleja Hospital was the site for Hernandez's medical, as he completed the formalities required prior to making the switch official.

Tyson Fury has delivered the ultimate insult to Anthony Joshua
So far, three firm favorites have come up - Klitschko, World Boxing Council (WBC) champion Deontay Wilder and Kubrat Pulev . As part of his Instagram story, Joshua also showed off his wide selection of caps as well as him working in the gym.

Hernandez's agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, says that the final decision will lie in the player's own hands.

If the move were to go through, Barça would have a gem on their hands, who could potentially stay at the club for years to come.

Atletico apparently tried to convince Hernandez, whose brother also plays for the Rojiblancos, to extend his deal with them, but a €24 million (R356 million) buyout clause allowed Real to pounce.

Interestingly, his last game for Alaves will be the final of the Copa del Rey against Barcelona later this month, which is the final fixture to take place at the Vicente Calderon and would see him turning out at the home of his parent club - and potentially against his potential future employers.
