Jordanian stabber shot dead in Jerusalem

Samri added that the attacker is a 57 year old Jordanian man who entered the country a week ago on a tourist Visa, and added that the police is still investigating his background, including the reason of his visit.

Israeli police said a Jordanian tourist was shot dead after he stabbed and injured a police officer in East Jerusalem's Old City on Saturday.

"The terrorist rushed toward him, whipped out a knife that he had in his possession, stormed him and began stabbing him. The police officer responded with determination and in a professional manner, managed to activate his weapon and neutralized him", Simri said.

Israel's ambulance service Magen David Adom said the police officer was not severely wounded.

"The Israeli government, which is the occupying force, bears responsibility for the shooting of a Jordanian citizen in occupied East Jerusalem which led to his martyrdom", the statement read.
