McDonald's expands delivery partnership with UberEats

Delivery is a tricky proposition for McDonald's.

Delivery charges using UberEats differs depending on the city, however, Uber usually charges a flat $4.99.

McDelivery is now available at 300 restaurants across Los Angeles; 267 throughout the Chicago area; 59 in Columbus; and 144 in Phoenix and will expand to additional cities in the coming months. Among the selections include Tito's, Don Julio, Stella Artois and Dom Perignon.

Inc.com reported on Wednesday that McDonald's is "planning to completely revamp its entire in-store experience", with upgrades that include self-order kiosks, upgraded dessert counters, new uniforms and table-locator technology so employees can serve food directly to the table.

Police warn: If you're hit by cyberattack, don't pay the ransom
Around a fifth of NHS trusts were hit in the attack, forcing them to postpone operations and procedures over the weekend. But UK hospitals, Chinese universities and global firms like Fedex also reported they had come under assault.

While delivery is clearly a compelling option to offer, it isn't a simple service for restaurants to add. Customers often spend less when ordering delivery, especially at casual dining chains that rely on alcohol orders to drive sales.

Fred Prouser/ReutersMcDonald's is jumping on the fast-food-delivery bandwagon. "We're getting great reviews (of the food)".

Karavites said he's also expecting higher sales at restaurants that offer delivery. Much like curbside pickup, which McDonald's plans to roll out later this year, Karavites said delivery orders won't be made until an UberEats driver arrives, ensuring the food is fresh and hot. "We're widening the net to be convenient to more people". Perhaps, with McDelivery, McDonald's can win back the customers who are too lazy to actually visit the chain. "Our customers have told us they enjoy experiencing McDonald's in new ways, and this is just one more way for them to enjoy their favorite menu items".
