Syria Moscow says US coalition strikes on govt forces 'unacceptable'

"Coalition struck Syrian pro-regime forces advancing in a de-confliction zone near al Tanf posing a threat to United States partner forces", it said.

As long as the USA keeps backing anti-regime insurgents in Syria and is willing to attack pro-regime forces as part of that support, there will be a danger that an incident like this could lead to a larger conflict with the Syrian government and its patrons.

Officials from the USA -led coalition attempted to use a hotline established with the Russians to warn the Syrian government to remove the forces from near the coalition base.

A U.S. military strike in Syria on Thursday was "government terrorism" and caused a massacre, Syrian government negotiator Bashar al-Ja'afari said on Friday, while Russian Federation called it an unacceptable breach of Syrian sovereignty.

USA military forces launched new airstrikes in Syria on Thursday, targeting pro-Assad forces in the southern part of the country, reported BuzzFeed News.

Pro-regime forces were struck following warnings as they were advancing inside an established de-confliction zone near At Tanf in Southern Syria.

He said: "We are not increasing our role in the Syrian civil war".

White House Denies Trump Asked FBI To Drop Investigation
Mr Trump abruptly fired Mr Comey last week, saying he did so based on his very public handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe. It is part of a paper trail Comey created documenting what he believed to be improper efforts to influence the investigation.

The coalition said the strike had occurred "well inside" an established de-confliction zone north-west of the Al Tanaf garrison, where British and U.S. commandos have been training and advising local forces fighting ISIL.

In the second incident, an unarmed Syrian SU-22 fighter-bomber entered the deconfliction zone and was intercepted by a pair of F-22 fighter aircraft. In April, National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster declared that Moscow's continued support for Assad and other regional forces "clearly cut against Russian interest [s]". The United States has been using the area to train its partnered local forces.

The Syrian military official said that attempts to justify this attack by claiming that the targeted troops did not respond to the warning not to advance are "categorically rejected".

The Syrian Observatory said most of the eight people killed in the strikes appeared to be "non-Syrian".

Two US aircraft were dispatched as a "show of force" to get the Syrian vehicles to turn around, according to a US official.

Said Seif, an official with the Western-backed Free Syrian Army Shahid Ahmed Abdo rebel group, said the U.S. intervention will help the rebels to hold their ground against any future incursions by the army and its Iranian backed militias. An earlier chemical weapons attack that killed more than 80 civilians is thought to have been launched from there.
