Comey to Testify to Senate Next Thursday

The former FBI chief is expected to detail conversations he had with the President about the Russian Federation investigation before his abrupt firing.

They say they also hope Comey's testimony will answer questions that have arisen since Comey's sudden firing by President Donald Trump.

"The open session will be followed by a closed session at 1 PM", a media announcement said.

Committee aides complained that the chairman, Representative Devin Nunes, who publicly recused himself from leading the Russian Federation probe in April following a secret visit he paid to White House officials, failed to consult Democrats on the subpoenas.

A similar back-and-forth occurred before the testimony last month of former acting Attorney General Sally Yates, though the White House said it did not try to block her appearance.

Special counsel Robert Mueller has cleared Comey to testify, but courts have historically upheld the White House's right to keep presidents' conversations private.

The former NSA director had a remarkably short tenure.

Egypt: IS claims responsibility of attack on Coptic Christians
He called for countries that support terrorism to be punished while appealing to US President Donald Trump for help. The Copts follow the teaching of Apostle Mark, who introduced Christianity to Egypt , according to St.

United States intelligence agencies have accused Russian Federation of hacking into and leaking Democratic Party emails, helping Mr Trump to victory in the election.

Another congressional source, who also requested anonymity, said Democrats were "informed and consulted" before the subpoenas were issued.

Mueller's investigation could include a look at the circumstances of Comey's firing, especially since Trump has said publicly that he was thinking of "this Russian Federation thing" when he made the move.

"Subpoenas related to the "unmasking" issue would have been sent by Chairman Nunes acting separately from the committee's Russian Federation investigation".

Committee aides complained he had acted unilaterally, and the top Democrat on the panel, Representative Adam Schiff, said Mr Nunes' actions amounted to a breach of his recusal decision.

Mueller was chosen to lead the department's investigation on May 17 amid concern of political interference.

The hearings are part of the Senate panel's probe of Russia's attempts to influence the outcome of the 2016 race for the White House. He was Federal Bureau of Investigation general counsel under Mueller and began his career with the Justice Department in 1991 at the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Eastern District of NY.
