Corbyn challenges Theresa May over 'dementia tax'

Ipsos Mori's head of political research, Gideon Skinner, said: "Here's more evidence of the Conservatives' wobbly week, with Labour improving again and the last two weeks of campaigning seeing a big hit to the Prime Minister's personal ratings".

But Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn criticised her refusal to debate with him directly.

"I am also impressed by his willingness to talk about class issues", the former Democratic presidential candidate said Thursday during a United Kingdom speaking tour promoting his book.

She continued: "I could have stayed on doing that job for another couple of years and not called an election".

The Conservative leader was accused of "broken promises" for calling an early election for June 8 after she had repeatedly said she would not, and for a U-turn on a key manifesto pledge on elderly social care.

"We are fighting this election to win and we are mounting a fantastic campaign in order to get that message across of how different our society and our politics could be", he said.

"I called a general election because I believe the British people have a right to vote and say who they want to see leading them through the Brexit process", Ms May said in an election edition of BBC1's Question Time.

Pressed over his willingness to push the nuclear button in the face of an imminent threat, the Labour leader said: "I think the idea of anyone ever using a nuclear weapon anywhere in the world is utterly appalling and bad..."

Turkish FM lashes out at USA delivery of arms to Kurdish fighters
U.S. officials have also indicated they will boost intelligence cooperation with Turkey to support its fight against the PKK. However, the US believes the Kurdish elements of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) will be essential to Raqqa's downfall.

He responded by saying that "the idea of anyone ever using a nuclear weapon anywhere in the world is utterly appalling and terrible".

"If we did use it, millions are going to die".

Corbyn was challenged about his attitude towards the nuclear deterrent and May was asked about her plans for a post-Brexit deal with Europe.

Mr Corbyn said Labour was "not looking to do deals with anybody" when asked if he would seek the support of the SNP.

Some of the reason for the focus on other matters is that we have not learnt anything new about the way Theresa May is planning to approach Brexit.

ICM boss Martin Boon said: "A lot of polls showing a much narrower gap depend on whether you think young people and 2015 non-voters will actually turn out to vote on this occasion".

He was challenged on the Labour Party's response to antisemitism, saying an investigation into Ken Livingston, suspended over comments about the Holocaust, "may or may not continue".
