Pakistan's injured Wahab Riaz ruled out of Champions Trophy

In a major blow to Pakistan, fast-bowler Wahab Riaz has been ruled out of the rest of the Champions Trophy one-day global tournament due to an ankle injury.

Thirty-one-year-old Riaz sustained the injury whilst bowling during his side's crushing 124-run defeat against arch-rivals India at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham on 4 June.

Pacer Rumman Raees will replace the injured Wahab Riaz in Pakistan's squad for the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales.

"It is a great opportunity for me to make my mark in the team", Raees, who could make his debut if inducted into the final eleven against Sri Lanka, told The Express Tribune. He was part of the team that played the T20I series against West Indies in 2016.

Rumman Raees has never played an ODI for Pakistan.

Trump also avoided any mention of a future Palestinian state in his brief remarks with Abbas after their meeting in Bethlehem . Former President Bill Clinton helped establish the current US policy on Jerusalem through the " Clinton Parameters " in 2000.

Raees was part of Pakistan's T20I squad against West Indies and made his debut for the national side a year ago in a T20I. While he might not get the opportunity to bowl against Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni who he termed as "two of the best batsmen of modern cricket", he will be hoping he gets the chance against South Africa.

Pakistan's second group game is against South Africa on June 7, at Edgbaston.

A scan confirmed that Wahab suffered a serious injury and it will take him a minimum of two weeks to recover from it.

Wahab, who returned the most expensive figures in the Champions Trophy with 87 off 8.1 wicketless overs against India, twisted his ankle in his follow-through in the 46th over of the innings.

In his Liast A carceer, Raees has played 42 matches and picked up 64 wickets.
