In case any delays arise during the countdown due to technical or weather issues a 48 hour scrub to Saturday will result. If the weather does not permit a launch Thursday, the next launch date is will be Saturday with coverage beginning at 4:30 p.m. for a 5:07 p.m. launch. This isn't the first time this particular Dragon has been to the ISS. It is not clear how much processing SpaceX has had to undertake to ready the spacecraft for its second flight to the station, nor has the company released a cost estimate. It will remain attached to the space station for about a month and then will come back to Earth with a planned splashdown in the Pacific Ocean. That future mission is today. This will be the 12th Dragon visit overall and the 11th under NASA contract.

SpaceX has completed 10 resupply missions to the ISS since 2012, and it's used a Dragon each time.

CRS-11 is scheduled to take flight at 2:55 p.m. PT from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Weather forecasts give a 70% chance of good conditions at launch. The primary concerns were anvil and cumulus clouds.

This will be the 100th overall launch from NASA's historic pad 39A, which is now under lease by SpaceX.

So today's will be only the fourth triple-launch day in the last 17 years.

The spaceflight company SpaceX is one of several firms building private space taxis and cargo ships to launch astronauts and supplies into space. BioServe previously has flown payloads on commercial cargo rockets developed by both SpaceX, headquartered in Hawthorne, California, and Orbital ATK, Inc. headquartered in Dulles, Virginia.

The supplies for special experiments include live mice to study the effects of osteoporosis and fruit flies for research on microgravity's impact on the heart.

The Dragon will carry important materials that will support over 250 science and research probes that would be conducted during Expeditions 52 and 53. The experiments will be housed in BioServe's Space Automated Bioproduct Lab (SABL), a newly updated "smart" incubator that will reduce the time astronauts spend manipulating the experiments. The seeds will be unpacked and planted in the European Modular Cultivation System, where they'll be subjected to various levels of light and gravity. The data gathered here could help improve agricultural production on Earth.
