UK to double length of next Parliament to deal with Brexit

The traditional throne speech of the Queen, annually opening the new session of the British Parliament, in 2018 will not take place, said the United Kingdom government.

House of Common leader Andrea Leadsom said Parliament will need "the maximum amount of time to scrutinize these bills" by holding a two-year session.

This unusual step, according to parliamentarians, will give them ample time to painstakingly work on the necessary legislation in the framework of the "breccia".

The speech, which is prepared by the government and read out by 91-year-old Queen Elizabeth II, marks the official start of parliamentary proceedings every year and sets the agenda that is to be passed by both houses during the course of the year.

The next parliamentary session will last for two years and focus on the legislation that will take Britain out of the EU.

Labour accused the coalition at the time of an "abuse of power" and said it was aimed exclusively at easing the passage of controversial legislation.

An early US Open departure for Day and McIlroy
The tournament-leading foursome held a one-shot lead over a trio of contenders that includes first-round leader Rickie Fowler . Day , who won the 2015 PGA Championship up the road at Whistling Straits, had to birdie his last hole Thursday to break 80.

"This will require substantial amounts of legislation, beginning with the Great Repeal Bill".

The two-year session will mean that the Government will not face a crunch vote next spring, when Brexit negotiations - which get underway tomorrow - will be ongoing.

The Queen's Speech was also dropped in 2011 under David Cameron's then-coalition government.

Meanwhile, the government has assured that the great repeal bill, which converts European Union laws into British legislation, will be considered alongside other Brexit legislation, also that the government would deliver Brexit while also addressing deep-rooted inequalities in society.

"There's a lot of legislation to be gone through, we're leaving the European Union at the end of March 2019, so having a two-year period in which to bring together parliament and government, to really make progress on legislation that is essential to make a real success of Brexit".

It will join a growing list of high-profile Conservative education policies that have become casualties Theresa May's disappointing general election result and loss of majority.
