A Czech nuclear power plant has been accused of sexism after news broke of its alleged bikini competition held to choose its new interns.

Dboule Temelin Nuclear Power Station, located near the city of Ceske Budejovice in the South Bohemian Region in South-western Czech Republic, sparked a backlash with its freaky recruitment policy.

The racy images were posted on the company's Facebook page, and "fans" were asked to vote and comment on their favourite of the line-up, with the contender with the most "likes" crowned "Miss Energy 2017".

"But if the original vision raised doubts or concerns, we are very sorry", the operators posted on Facebook. In this case the participants of the Czech beauty contest Maturantka Roku, translated as the Graduate of the Year were photographed in the environment of the Temelin power plant.

Unsurprisingly, many Facebook users slammed the competition for being sexist.

CEZ Group had reportedly likened the bikini photo shoot to its cultural enrichment programs such as hosting the Bohemian Philharmonic at the plant.

Human rights lawyer Petra Havlikova said: "The competition is absolutely outside the bounds of ethics".

"Knowledge obviously does not matter", noted another user. The release said the women "greatly enjoyed" the experience, according to a German news report on the bikini contest.

But bosses were forced to apologise and scrap the unique recruitment process after a social media backlash.

Anyway, all 10 Facebook finalists were reportedly offered a two-week position as interns.

The plant later posted on Facebook that the objective of the competition had been to "support technical education" rather than promoting itself using bikini pictures.
