Chile gear up for tough semi-final against Ronaldo's Portugal

The 30-year-old Monaco player made his 100th worldwide appearance with Portugal in the team's win over New Zealand on Saturday.

Playing in Group A, the UEFA champions Portugal or often referred to as the Lusitanians, first enjoyed 2-2 draw against Mexico, then went past by hosts Russian Federation 1-0 and then creamed team New Zealand with 4-0 win.

Arturo Vidal did not call Cristiano Ronaldo a "smart ass", with a translation error leading to incorrect headlines this week, Chile's press secretary says. "I have already told my Bayern Munich teammate [and Germany international] Joshua Kimmich that we will meet again in the final". "Let's hope they are able to play at the same level tomorrow as we've seen until now".

"Having an extra day of rest at this stage of the tournament, and after the great effort that we've been making, favours the opponent".

Its path to this year's showpiece in St Petersburg has been complicated by its failure to top the group but defender Gonzalo Jara does not believe meeting Group A runner-up Mexico would have been any easier. "It doesn't make any difference to us whether it's Mexico or Portugal".

"Ronaldo is part of the team and of course we'll have to watch him and try to counter his strengths". Raphael Guerreiro is also still recovering from a left ankle blow he suffered in the 1-0 win over Russian Federation.

Sears closing stores in Mentor, Middleburg Heights
Sears Canada received court protection from creditors on Thursday and announced a plan to close 59 locations and cut 2,900 jobs. The Illinois-based company shut down a Grand Rapids store in March after a January announcement of nationwide closures.

Pizzi believes Ronaldo can only be a danger when Portugal are playing well as a united team but he has faith his own players know how to handle him.

The Chileans however had no problem beating the Portugal keeper.

Based on the performance of Chile and Portugal in the Confederations Cup 2017, everyone would expect the Euro 2016 winners to get the win but many have tipped Chile to go all the way too.

Charles Aranguiz and Alexis scored for Chile, while Portugal's Ricardo Quaresmo also lost.

The European champions face Chile in Kazan on Wednesday looking to continue their unbeaten campaign in Russian Federation and reach a second major final in the last 12 months.

Chile came second in the group with five points, two behind Germany and three ahead of Australia in third.
