Utah Jazz have a point guard, acquire Ricky Rubio via trade

Report: Timberwolves sign point guard Teague

Utah traded for Minnesota Timberwolves starting point guard Ricky Rubio, The Tribune first reported on Friday afternoon before the Jazz officially announced the trade. The extra first-round pick (lottery-protected through 2020, converting into a pair of second-round picks if not conveyed by then) gets Minnesota back to pick-neutral; the team's own 2018 first-round pick belongs to the Atlanta Hawks (with lottery protection) from the ill-fated Adreian Payne trade. The draft pick that Utah will be sending to Minnesota is the Oklahoma City Thunder's pick, which will now go to the Timberwolves in the exchange.

Rubio spent six seasons in Minnesota, delighting Wolves fans with flashy passing and an approachable nature while also suffering through losing season after losing season (see full story).

Teague averaged 15.3 points and a career-high 7.8 assists for the Pacers last season. Hill and Hayward were said to be close last season, but reports from Jody Genessy of the Deseret News suggest that Rubio would be an adequate "Plan B" for the sought-after forward.

One of these such shooters could be Joe Ingles, a restricted free agent that should command sizable offers from other teams. Hill will become an unrestricted free agent tonight, and this trade signifies the Jazz are moving on.

Gobert fired back nearly immediately and reached out to Rubio to prove his point. Additionally, Rubio should serve as a good mentor for Exum, who is still extremely young and lacks the natural feel for the lead guard position that Rubio has.

-The New Orleans Pelicans are expected to retain point guard Jrue Holiday with a big-money contract once the National Basketball Association free agency period begins at 12:01 a.m. Saturday.

What To Expect From The White House Summit With South Korea's Leader
Since 2008, photographer Eric Lafforgue ventured to North Korea six times. China has been lashing out at the US and South Korea for it.

Rubio is slated to make 14.25 million dollars next season.

In his lone season with the Jazz, Hill was a revelation.

Tyus Jones is now the only point guard on the Wolves' roster. Gordon Hayward, who's departure is entirely possible, was extremely close to Hill, and that doesn't take into account how nicely he performed on both ends of the court. Two NBA drafts ago, it seemed the now-26-year-old Spaniard's fate was sealed when the Wolves selected point guard Kris Dunn. Although Rubio is a solid guard, he's limited offensively, and he only contributed to Minnesota's spacing problems.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are "heavy, heavy favorites" to sign Jeff Teague, according to USA Today's Sam Amick.

In 2016-2017, he averaged 11.1 points per game and shot just 40.2 percent from the field.
