Sickening crash ends Porte's Tour hopes

The climb Australia's Richie Porte third from right follows Britain's Chris Froome wearing the overall leader's

Riding in a select group of race favourites in pursuit of lone leader Barguil, the Australian left the road on the inside of a tight bend on the final descent of the Mont du Chat.

After numerous attacks including from Aru and Porte, Froome dropped the other GC rivals, with Nairo Quintana (Movistar) and Aru unable to stay with the three-time Tour de France victor.

Martin remounted but was involved in another crash shortly afterwards, while Porte, widely regarded as the biggest threat to Froome's title defence, received treatment for nearly half an hour at the roadside before being taken away in an ambulance.

However, organisers said he was conscious and speaking but was being taken to hospital.

Colombian Rigoberto Uran (Cannondale-Drapac) won Sunday's dramatic stage, a 181.5-kilometre route from Nantua to Chambéry.

JJ Redick Signs with 76ers
The Wolves, Nets and 76ers were known to be interested in Redick, who spent the past four seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers . He averaged a career-high 18.1 points and 3.7 assists this past season and also grabbed 7.7 rebounds.

Twice former victor Alberto Contador was one of the big losers on the day from the 181.5km stage from Nantua to Chambéry. The Welshman sustained a suspected broken collarbone in a crash on the damp descent of the Col de la Biche, the first of three hors categorie climbs on a day expected to shake up the battle for the yellow jersey. He had crashed twice while wearing the yellow jersey, first in an incident which also brought Froome down on stage two and secondly in a pile-up in Mondorf-les-Bains, moments before the crash which ended Mark Cavendish's participation in the Tour.

French rider Warren Barguil (Sunweb) claimed second on the stage after an exceptional breakaway ride. "I want to thank the other riders, who did not attack".

Porte's hopes of taking the title off Froome were ended when the BMC Racing rider suffered a horrific fall after losing control on the descent of the Mont du Chat.

Overall, Froome leads Fabio Aru of Italy by 18 seconds and Romain Bardet of France by 51 seconds.
