Kerala political violence: Arun Jaitley meets family of murdered RSS worker

Not a drop of blood again CPM BJP sing the same old peace tune in Kannur

Jaitley's visit comes in the backdrop of the RSS demanding either a judicial or central agency probe into their workers being targetted by the CPM. "The RSS" aim is to turn Kerala into a fertile ground for its brand of communal politics, he said. CPM meant to counter the BJP's claim that only Sangh Parivar workers were being targeted.

The state BJP office was vandalised on July 28. The CPI (M) has claimed that the RSS-BJP combine was spreading a false propaganda on the issue of political violence. "At the end of the day, it's the responsibility of the state to ensure that the perpetrators of these crimes are brought to book", Jaitley said.

Anavoor Nagappan, Thiruvananthapuram district secretary of the CPM, said that those on protest included 21 family members of their activists killed in the state from 1980.

Political murders have been on the rise every time the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government came to power in the state, he told newspersons here. He also questioned the "complete silence" on the "continuing saga of violence in Kerala" of those who otherwise speak against any similar incidents in other parts of the country. Jaitley also directed the party cadres to provide sufficient help and rehabilitation to the slain activists Rajesh and Vishnu. I assure our karyakartas and victims that the party will stand strongly behind them. "The BJP workers of Kerala are not alone, the whole nation is with you", Jaitley said after meeting Rajesh's family members. Among these, a roughly equal number of workers from the CPI (M) and the RSS-BJP were killed - 30 from the former and 31 from the latter.

State BJP leaders, including president Kummanam Rajasekharan, accompanied the Union Finance minister. The nine arrested persons in connection with the case are under the police custody for evidence collection and further interrogation.
