Tech shares lead Dow to another record high

Global stock markets rose to record levels today as the Dow Jones Industrial average clocked its ninth straight day of all-time highs. Click on ticker-symbol links in each slide for current prices and more.

Also on investors' radar is the rush of retail earnings this week and next amid Amazon.com's rapid rise.

The S&P 500 climbed four points, or 0.16%, to 2,481 and the Nasdaq Composite added 32 points, or 0.51%, to end at 6,384.

The S&P hasn't moved more than 0.5 percent since July and has fallen more than 1 percent only twice this year.

JPMorgan Chase rose 1.1 percent and Texas Instruments rose 1.6 percent.

Avis Budget Group fell 5.84% as the vehicle rental company's second-quarter profit missed expectations and the company cut its full-year profit view.

Oil prices edged lower on Monday, sliding away from nine-week highs, as worries lingered over high production from OPEC and the United States.

Declining issues outnumbered advancers on the NYSE by 1,488 to 998.
