Target of Louise Linton's 'adorably out of touch' rant hits back

Louise Linton is still trying to clean up her mess

The two also toured the Fort Knox gold vault Monday.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a nonprofit that investigates governmental abuse of power, has already submitted an expedited request for copies of all records regarding the Mnuchins' trip to Kentucky, suggesting it was all a ruse to get a better view of the eclipse - a charge the Treasury Department denies.

Thousands flocked to Kentucky last week to view the eclipse just outside the path of totality. Did you think this was a personal trip?!

Jennifer Miller, the commenter who was called "adorably out of touch", by Louise Linton, wife of Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, is striking back.

The trip sparked widespread controversy after Linton posted a picture on Instagram of her exiting the Air Force plane the couple used for the trip, touting the brand names of her designer clothing.

"The U.S. Department of the Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and I in front of the main door to the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox before we viewed the #solareclipse from the rooftop today", McConnell's Facebook caption said.

Boston hopes to keep peace at 'Free Speech Rally'
Some 500 police officers were deployed to the city to avert possible confrontations at the event. Some counter-protesters dressed entirely in black and wore bandannas over their faces.

"It turns out that Mnuchin did view the eclipse while he was in Kentucky, and from an extraordinary place: Just outside the path of totality, from the roof of the nation's fabled Fort Knox, atop almost $200 billion in American gold", The Washington Post reports. Linton wrote on her Instagram page, responding to the person who had written "glad we could pay for your little getaway".

'Either as an individual earner in taxes OR in self sacrifice to your country?'

'Adorable! Do you think the US Govt paid for our honeymoon or personal travel?' "While [Louise] has since apologized for her insensitive post, nothing she says now can negate the fact that her initial response to my frustration was to continue bragging about her wealth and to allege that her contributions to society have been more significant than mine", she writes.

CREW claims it's a big issue that Mnuchin and his wife, Louise Linton, flew on a government plane to get there. I'm pretty sure we paid more taxes toward our day "trip" than you did. Linton's publicist later issued her "apology", which was anything but honest and genuine.

"Treasury officials said Thursday that the trip was planned explicitly around 'official government travel, ' rejecting the idea that the Fort Knox visit and the appearance at a luncheon for the local chamber of commerce were mere cover", The Post adds.
