Boy Bye: Milwaukee County Sheriff and Trump Cheerleader David Clarke Resigns

David Clarke Resigns As Milwaukee Co. Sheriff

Milwaukee County Clerk George Christenson says Sheriff David Clarke submitted a letter of resignation, effective at 11:59 p.m., to his office today. Clarke is an ally of President Donald Trump and was briefly considered for a job at the Department of Homeland Security.

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke at the National Rifle Association's annual meeting in Atlanta in April.

Clarke was in Nashville, Tennessee for the National Fraternal Order of Police convention on Thursday, according to his Twitter account.

Clarke, one of most prominent African-American figures in law enforcement, is a frequent commentator on Fox News who was a strong supporter of Trump's presidential campaign.

"We will see what the process is going forward, but regardless, I will continue to be a candidate for a full term as Sheriff in 2018, and I look forward to earning the trust of Milwaukee County voters".

US Tests Ballistic Missile Defence System Off Hawai Coast
North Korea's most recent missile test early Tuesday local time prompted the Japanese government to tell residents to take cover. A U.S. official, however, told CNN the test had been planned for a long time and before North Korea's latest provocation.

"This is created to intimidate me", he said of the news organization. A mentally ill inmate allegedly died after being deprived of water as punishment, prosecutors said.

Clarke, for his part, doesn't seem to take his role as a jail supervisor too seriously.

"Two inmates suffered from ... cardiac disease, which became critical when coupled with the effects of hardcore drug usage prior to their incarceration, with their extensive drug histories independently noted in their death investigations", he said. He has also clashed with county officials and employees on multiple occasions. "That [private] contract is run out of the House of Correction, and they report to the county executive".

Clarke's harsh jailing practices have come under legal scrutiny in the past. He recently published a memoir, "Cop Under Fire".
