Jaguar Land Rover plans EVs and hybrids from 2020

"Hello, my name is Sayer. I am the steering wheel of the future"

Jaguar Land Rover has become the latest auto manufacturer to announce its commitment to going green, with plans to launch only electric or hybrid lines from 2020.

Jaguar Land Rover said all of its new cars and light trucks will be available with full electric, plug-in hybrid or mild hybrid technology, starting in 2020.

Back down to reality, the company is preparing for the I-Pace - which it showed off at the LA Auto Show previous year - to hit showrooms in 2018.

Based on a 1968 Series 1.5 Roadster and featuring a cutting-edge electric powertrain enabling it to reach 0-60mph in just 5.5sec, it's been engineered by Jaguar Classic at the company's new Classic Works in Warwickshire.

Jaguar has just introduced a fully electric version of its classical sports vehicle Jaguar E-type. As the six-cylinder unit powered a whole range of Jaguar's between 1949 and 1992, similar conversions are possible in other classic Jaguar models. The car's structure, suspension and brakes are all identical to the factory vehicle, meaning the driving experience should be as close as possible to the original E-Type magic. That would include the already announced Jaguar I-Pace EV and likely a future Land Rover Defender - proving whether hybrid cars can truly make it in all types of weather conditions, The Verge says. That means it has gone fully electric. The car's electric powertrain, which develops 220kW, was specially designed for the E-type Zero.

And that really means buying product ideally made in this country, but that means they'll go out, and they'll spend their money. All I want to do is MAGA (Make America Great Again), Trump added with the slogan of his presidential campaign.

Speaking about the news, Dr Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, said: "Every new Jaguar Land Rover model line will be electrified from 2020, giving our customers even more choice".

"Our aim with E-type Zero is to future-proof classic vehicle ownership".

Sweden's Volvo is also moving away from internal combustion engines, announcing in July that it plans to start phasing out production of conventional petrol-only cars from 2019. Other than its electric powertrain and modified instrumentation the auto is completely original in specification.
