OJ Simpson Released on Parole After Nine Years in Jail

O.J. Simpson

For now, Simpson has been approved to live at a home in the Las Vegas area, a Nevada parole official said, and can't leave the state without advance approval from his parole officer.

"I told him, 'Don't come back, ' and he responded, 'I don't intend to, '" the corrections representative said.

In a video on the New York Post's website, Simpson spoke from the back of a white SUV at a gas station the newspaper said was in Amargosa Valley, Nevada, about 90 miles (145 km) northwest of Las Vegas.

"We needed to do this to ensure public safety and to avoid any possible incident", Keast added, speaking by telephone from Lovelock. The former Buffalo Bills player will have to adhere to the conditions set by the Nevada parole board, which include banning him from consuming alcohol in large quantities or hanging out with ex-convicts or people who engage in criminal activity.

LaVergne said that upon his release, Simpson wants to enjoy "simple pleasures that he hasn't enjoyed in nine years", such as getting the latest iPhone and eating steak and seafood. Two of his companions were armed, leading the court to give him a prison sentence in 2008.

The Florida attorney general is not amused with the idea of Simpson serving out his parole in the state.

Cautious welcome from business world on Hammond's conference speech
Young people are taking on a ugly amount of debt, and many don't even know what they are getting from it. Mr Hammond will add: "We are the party of progress".

According to reports, Simpson lost his house that was close to Miami, because of repossession in 2012. Simpson also wants to be closer to his children, who also live in Florida. If he is lucky, his five years of release watch might be decreased depending on his behavior. He was acquitted the following year in Los Angeles in what was dubbed the "trial of the century".

The former TV celebrity had a huge career in the National Football League, where he is considered one of the all-time greats in his time with the Buffalo Bills.

Handsome and charming, he also provided commentary on "Monday Night Football", became the face of Hertz rental-car commercials and built a movie career with roles in the "Naked Gun" comedies and other films.

Before his arrest he was filmed live on television being pursued by police on a Californian freeway. Simpson declined to be interviewed, saying he had done nothing since his release but sit in a vehicle for five hours. He says he only wanted to retrieve personal items, mementoes and family photos. She's the attorney general, she has nothing to do with it.

The saga spawned an award-winning documentary and television drama.
