Pakistan violates ceasefire in Poonch, 1dead, 3 injured

Security forces have foiled an infiltration bid in Keran sector

Two children including a girl were killed and 12 others injured in Pakistani troops firing and mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Firing by Pakistani troops was reported from villages located in the Kerni, Qasba and Shahpur sectors of Poonch.

Poonch deputy commissioner Tariq Ahmad Zargar said Asrar Ahmed, 10, and Jasmin Akhtar, 15, died in today's shelling.

The critically injured persons were referred to the Government Medical College Hospital here for specialized treatment, the spokesman said.

The troops guarding the borderline retaliated and gave a befitting reply to the Pakistani shelling.

Police said that Pakistan troops began firing at border villages and forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonj district of Jammu and Kashmir.

While, one BSF personnel also succumbed to his injuries post encounter.
