Ortiz thrown out, Wilder to face mandatory Stiverne next, say WBC

Deontay Wilder hits Bermane Stiverne during their WBC heavyweight title bout Saturday Jan. 17 2015 in Las Vegas

Ortiz was revealed to have failed a drug test last week and now he has officially been booted from the heavyweight title fight. Stiverne (25-2-1, 21 knockouts) had been scheduled to fight on the Wilder-Ortiz undercard next month at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

"The WBC has withdrawn its sanction of the Deontay Wilder vs. Ortiz fight, and Wilder will fight next his mandatory fight against Bermane Stiverne", WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said in a statement.

He has talked up a clash with IBF and WBA champ Anthony Joshua but knows that first, he must overcome Stiverne.

Wilder originally won his WBC belt off Stiverne back in 2015 after a hard fought unanimous decision, where Wilder's chin was perhaps tested its hardest to date.

WBN predicted Wilder v Stiverne II in the wake of the initial confirmation by the WBC despite an offer from British contender Dillian Whyte to step in.

ISIS Leader Baghdadi Reportedly Heard on New Tape
This is al-Baghdadi's first recorded speech since November 2016, and it comes amid growing speculation over his fate. But U.S. officials have said as recently as August that they believed Baghdadi was alive.

"Whatever happens happens. Ask and you shall receive". Showtime will televise the contest.

"Despite all of these obstacles that are thrown in my path, it still will not stop me from reaching my ultimate goal, which is to be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world". He is 27-0 with 23 knockouts in his career. "At least now I won't have to deal with that down the road". "It was my fault, but I learn from my mistakes".

But Wilder will still start the fight as an overwhelming favourite to record his sixth successful title defence.

Promoter Lou DiBella would have preferred to put on Wilder against Ortiz, but he is also rolling with the punches of the late change.
