'Morning Joe's' Mika Brzezinski to Cancel Book Deal Unless Harvey Weinstein Resigns

Harvey Weinstein arrives at the Oscars on Sunday Feb. 22 2015 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles

The latest allegation comes on the heels of a bombshell New York Times report claiming Weinstein has been paying off sexual harassment accusers for decades.

"Authors, actors, and moviemakers should not work for any Weinstein company until he resigns".

Ms. Sivan recalled the alleged encounter after The New York Times published a bombshell report Thursday revealing that Mr. Weinstein, the head of The Weinstein Company and Miramax film studios, reached at least eight settlements with women dating back almost three decades in response to similar previously unpublicized allegations of sexual harassment and other misconduct, including several leading actresses.

"Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski announced on Twitter that she won't follow through with her three-book deal with Weinstein Books unless Harvey Weinstein resigns.

By the time this occurred, Sivan's friend had grown concerned by how long Sivan was gone.

The Huffington Post contacted Weinstein's company for comment but has not heard back yet. In a text message, Lisa Bloom, Weinstein's attorney, said Weinstein was not available for an interview.

Once Sivan and Weinstein were downstairs they chatted and he showed her the cafe.

Her friend, who was present at the restaurant, and several sources, who shared similar experiences with Weinstein and spoke on the condition of anonymity, corroborated several details in Sivan's story.

Brzezinski, who signed a July book deal with a Weinstein company, declared she would not honor her contract unless the Oscar-winning movie mogul is gone. Weinstein then asked her to "stand there and shut up" while he masturbated in front of her, leaving her stunned.

At that point, Sivan claims that Weinstein exposed himself and began masturbating.

The former TV journalist said she remained silent over the years out of fear of retaliation due to Weinstein's clout in the media industry. Sivan, who was shocked by the entire incident, said Weinstein had called her at her office the next day to tell her "he had a great time last night". The incident in the vestibule didn't last long. She says he quickly finished in a pot plant in the hallway. Remaining board members hired an outside law firm to investigate the allegations and said Weinstein would take an indefinite leave of absence.
