Tejas train food lands 25 passengers in hospital

"The food is cooked under suitable environment in the base kitchen under proper supervision all time", a senior IRCTC official told The Indian Express. When the train arrived in Mumbai at 9.30 pm, numerous other passengers related their ordeal.

Tejas Express (22120) is the country's first semi-high speed fully AC train service between Karmali railway station in Goa and Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Terminal - it was launched in June this year. Of the 24 passengers, three are in the intensive care unit.

Passengers expressed unease and pain after having breakfast served on the train.

The Tejas Express, one of the premium trains of the Indian Railways, connects Mumbai and Karmali in Goa.

According to the Newspaper, In an official communication, IRCTC assured of strict action. "The passengers were taken to government and private hospitals", the official said. A spokesperson of IRCTC added, "Initially, seven passengers complained of nausea and were attended by the on-board supervisor". The official said, "We still do not know whether food poisoning was from veg or non-vegetarian food".

"The train was stopped at Chiplon railway station around 3.15 p.m. and the passengers who complained were deboarded".

The IRCTC general manager has proceeded to Chiplun for coordination at the hospital for all arrangements for ensuring the passengers comfort and onward movement, IRCTC stated.
