Former President Obama Reports For Jury Duty

Obama expected to show up for jury duty in Chicago

FORMER US President Barack Obama rubbed shoulders with ordinary Americans as he reported for jury duty earlier today.

Timothy Evans, the presiding judge of the Cook County chief judge, told county commissioners weeks ago that Obama would serve in November, but would not say when.

Excited onlookers filmed Mr Obama's grand entrance as the former leader spent some time greeting all the members of the jury, shaking hands and even signing a book.

The 44th president's motorcade - considerably shorter than the one when he lived in the White House - left his home in the Kenwood neighborhood on the city's South Side and arrived at the Richard J. Daley Center shortly after 10 a.m.

The Good Samaritan then became the target of the naked kidnappers, who crashed their BMW into the rear of the passerby's truck. She did not know whether they were naked at the time of the kidnapping, or whether they removed their clothes after.

Obama watched the entire 20-minute educational video during his time at the Daley Center, Evans said. He obliged them and posed for photographs, Evans said. He made his way to the 17th floor of the building, where he proceeded to shake hands with hundreds of people there to fulfill that very same responsibility.

Obama is not the first former president to receive a notice for jury duty. Hill said that the former president would donate it to Cook County.

While the Obamas now live in Washington, the former president and first lady Michelle Obama maintain a home in Chicago, the city where he got his political start.

Theoretically, every US citizen over the age of 18 could be called for jury duty. The official, who is not authorized to speak about the former president's jury duty, spoke on condition of anonymity. Mr. T was not chosen to sit on a jury.
