Google Pixel 2 XL owners are complaining about yet another problem

Google Pixel 2 XL Faces Problem with Slow Charging on a Fast Charging Device

The issue seems to be related to the ambient display.

The time was right, Google launched its flagship smartphones - Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL just a month ago to compete with Cupertino giant's mighty iPhones. Additionally, some Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL users are reporting problems with their handsets' microphone. Taking nothing away from Apple as the iPhoneX outclassed everyone in the still images section as the most expensive phone was successful in achieving best results along with a photo score of 101. One of the users wrote on the forum, "I'm not sure why, but the Pixel 2 XL screen flashes when unlocking (fingerprint and lock button), when the screen wakes up because of notifications, when the screen dims and the phone locks, and when manually locking".

Google states its aim is not to offer a radical display transformation, rather, add a diverse and striking colour range whilst keeping the Pixel's "untouched palette". They seem hardware related, suggested by the below solution to the problem.

Apple's iPhone 'i' glitch is driving texters insane
It's not just newly purchased phones that are affected, but iOS 11 users from iPhone 6 and up are also seeing the glitch. Some users are reporting that the temporary workaround isn't working, while others are noticing the fix.

Many users have claimed that by simply blowing on the microphone, you can fix the problem to some degree. The problem also doesn't appear to be affecting the smaller Pixel 2, which also comes with an OLED display. The problem does not happen every time, but it could not be solved by the usual advice of restarting the smartphone or doing a factory reset.

With reports across both the Google Product Forums and Reddit, this may not be universal, but it's also far from isolated.

The scope of the problem is unclear, but complaints have surfaced by the dozen. Fortunately, a majority of handsets out there in the wild should still be covered by the return period. Now, we don't know exactly why the mics are behaving like this, it is probably due to some hardware issue.
