Airbus Signs Massive $49.5 Billion Deal for 430 A320neo Aircraft

The order, believed to be the biggest ever for Airbus, will more than double the value of the airline's sales for the year. Together, the orders totaled $76.5 billion, which set a new record.

Its announcement came less than two hours after Airbus said it had reached a deal to sell 430 A320neo jetliners - worth roughly $50 billion at list prices - to Indigo Partners, which owns several low-priced airlines around the world.

The order consists of the A320neo and A321neo, the version remotorisée du best-seller for Airbus, according to this source. Reports circulated before the air show that a major A380 sale would be coming.

The flurry of orders for the global rivals came at the Dubai Air Show, one of a series of worldwide events where the two companies like to clinch big deals.

The airline had announced orders for 288 planes as of the end of October.

The previous day, Boeing said that it had finalised an order for 20 additional 737 MAX 8s from ALAFCO Aviation Lease and Finance Company, doubling the lessor's order book for the MAX airplane.

The Good Samaritan then became the target of the naked kidnappers, who crashed their BMW into the rear of the passerby's truck. She did not know whether they were naked at the time of the kidnapping, or whether they removed their clothes after.

Airbus has closed the gap with the single largest order in company history.

The Airbus aircraft, whose wings are made in the United Kingdom, will be deployed across Indigo's airlines, which also include Frontier in the U.S., and JetSmart in Chile.

John Leahy, COO, Customer, Airbus Commercial Aircraft, described the deal as 'remarkable, and thanked his sales team.

The agreement was signed with Indigo Partners to build the plans for four airlines that company owns.

Investment group Indigo Partners has bought the Airbus machines to use in its "low-cost" plane rental service, which was founded by the American, Bill Franke; considered to be one of the airline industry's most influential figures. "There is enough demand for us and competitors", he said.

Boeing is dominating the Dubai show so far, after Dubai's Emirates airline announced a surprise 787 Dreamliner order. Overall, Boeing has been eating Airbus's lunch so far this year, out-selling the Toulouse, France-based planemaker by 690 to 343.
