One IAF Garud commando was martyred and five terrorists including the nephew of 26/11 Mumbai attacks mastermind Zakir-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, have been killed by the security forces in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Saturday.

The gunfight started late afternoon on Saturday following a cordon and search operation launched after receiving specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.

The joint team of forces intensified the combing operation and the hiding militants opened fire upon them triggering of an encounter, he said. Reportedly, one of the dead militants was the son of Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.
