US News Network Suspends Journalist Over Inaccurate Flynn Report

Fake news ABC suspends Brian Ross… for reporting fake news

It was also the day where The View's co-host, Joy Behar, jumped for glee over the erroneous news.

In Ross' initial report, he said that Flynn was ready to testify that Trump ordered him to contact the Russians when he was still running for the presidency.

"We deeply regret and apologize for the serious error we made yesterday", ABC said in statement published by the NY Times.

So, The View finally addressed their embarrassing celebratory reaction to news that Donald Trump instructed ex-National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to contact the Russians.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, Donald Trump, Jr., blasted ABC News for its "misleading bombshell" report about former national security adviser Michael Flynn's testimony to the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding his contact with Russian officials and the lagging efforts of the network to correct a key portion Friday's report. Because of the error, ABC News suspended Ross for four weeks without pay. Although there was ostensibly no intent to mislead the public by Ross and the network issued a clarification - then a correction - to their story, McCain called the report "fake news".

Ross initially reported that Trump directed Flynn during the campaign to reach out to Russian officials.

"And I will say that fake news, and what we did on Friday, that's what I was accused of being a part of", she said, despite the fact that she was clearly at odds with the other women.

"People are slamming this as fake news, I think it's a mistake", Behar said, throwing the topic to the panel.

On Saturday night, Trump tweeted his "congratulations" to ABC for suspending Ross. It's not important to be first, rather it's important to be right.

Goldston noted that ABC News "spent this weekend getting absolutely pilloried as a news division for reporting fake news".

In suggesting Ross should be fired for his error, Conway appeared to have forgotten some of her own lapses, including arguing the case for "alternative facts"; suggesting mistakenly that there had been a bad massacre in "Bowling Green"; and telling reporters there were microwaves that could turn into cameras. "I think he coined it because it's so convenient for him and people are believing it", she said. On Monday, Behar tried to make light of the error. "I hear they have a pill for that now".
