Google Plans Fire TV YouTube Ban

Google Starts Blocking YouTube on Fire TV, Echo Show

And YouTube was pulled from the Echo Show earlier because Google wasn't happy with the implementation (paywall), which prevented users from logging in and commenting.

Google is hoping to twist Amazon's arm by holding back access to one of the world's most used video apps, however access to it via a browser will still be possible, though not as user friendly.

While Echo Show owners will stop seeing YouTube today, Fire TV users will lose support on January 1. Google also left the Fire TV off the list of streaming players to be supported by YouTube TV in what is likely a continuation of their fight with Amazon.

Google is withdrawing its popular YouTube app from Amazon's smart speaker and video streaming devices, marking the latest skirmish in a rare public battle between the tech titans that are increasingly butting heads over TV and gadgets. Google also claimed that Amazon's Prime Video lineup of shows and movies isn't available via the Chromecast. Amazon swears up and down it just wants to sell the devices that offer the best experience with its content, and that's the Fire TV lineup.

However, it sounds like Google didn't care for Amazon's workaround. While some of Google's products are still available from Amazon, including some Nest products, the Google Home smart speaker is not. Sans YouTube, Amazon looks to be banking on its in-house services and against the Chcolate Factory's built-in customer base. Whether or not this move will work, or further escalate this product war between Google and Amazon, remains to be seen.

Bigg Boss 11: Bandgi Kalra to be eliminated from the show
The first round is a draw, but in the second round, Luv beats Puneesh and gets the medal from Salman. Three contestants - Luv Tyagi, Puneesh Sharma and Bandgi were nominated this week for elimination.

"We've been trying to reach an agreement with Amazon to give consumers access to each other's products and services", a Google spokesperson told Tom's Guide.

The two companies have been negotiating for some time in an attempt to reach an agreement that will benefit both their customers, so it's unclear why they're not able to come to some sort of reasonable compromise here.

Amazon had previously stopped selling several of Google's hardware products. "Google is setting a disappointing precedent by selectively blocking customer access to an open website".

The version Amazon presented had lacked next video recommendations, subscriptions and other features - but these were restored in November, when Amazon made the device present a more normal view of YouTube.
