Nintendo Switch's Game Cartridges Delayed Until 2019

October releases

However, according to The Wall Street Journal as reported by The Verge, Nintendo just delayed them into 2019.

In a tweet, games analyst Daniel Ahmad said, "If a publisher wants to put a game on a 32GB cart on Switch it costs 60 percent more for them then it would for a 50GB Blu-Ray on PS4/Xbox One". At the very least, we might see Nintendo take advantage of the extra space afforded next year. What that means for Switch owners is reduced load times and they also don't have to suffer from installing loads of data. That does come with a setback though, game developers, especially the ones located in the U.S. need much more capacity for their data heavy games. The Wall Street Journal noted the reason for the delay being technical issues, and also noted that many developers may delay their games until the cards become available.

The current maximum amount the Switch game cards can now hold is 32GB, less than the 50GB Blu-ray discs used in other consoles.

Didi Chuxing raises Dollars 4 billion in new equity funding
Didi has also invested in Uber's rivals globally, including US-based Lyft, Brazil-based 99 and Singapore-headquartered Grab. The latest round of funding values the company at around $56bn.

Nintendo Switch would have sold 3,178,100 units in Asia since its launch last March. What the Switch needs is 64GB cartridges, and they were meant to arrive next year. WSJ cites several people familiar with the matter and notes that Nintendo planned to make the 64GB cartridges available to developers in the second half of 2018, but the date has now been pushed back until 2019 due to technically problems. Also, another bummer is that Switch owners have to buy memory cards to add more memory for games like Doom for example which requires a substantial download even if you purchase a physical copy over a digital one.

IGN has reached out to Nintendo for comment.
