Frances McDormand attends the 90th Annual Academy Awards Governors Ball at the Hollywood & Highland Center on March 4, 2018.

After being arrested on Sunday from the event, Bryant remained in Police custody till Monday on charges of Felony Grand Larceny and was granted $20,000 bail.

A Facebook video uploaded by Bryant shows him standing with the statuette in the Governors Ball, the Oscars after-party where police say he took it. "We got it tonight, baby. who wants to tell me congratulations?", inviting people to pose for selfies with him and claiming that he had won it for "music".

Onlookers asked to touch the statue and offered congratulations, apparently unaware the Oscar belonged to McDormand. Don't talk to us about it at the parties tonight.

"Best Actress victor Frances McDormand and her Oscar were happily reunited after a brief separation at last night's Governors Ball".

Unfortunately, Terry Bryant didn't get that particular memo.

The statue has since been returned to the best actress victor. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences issued a statement in the wake of the incident, saying: "Best Actress victor Frances McDormand and her Oscar were happily reunited after a brief separation at last night's Governors Ball. They celebrated the reunion with a double cheeseburger from In-N-Out Burger".

It was otherwise a relatively uneventful show, however, and early ratings for ABC's telecast showed the USA audience at an all-time low of 26.5 million, down around a fifth from last year's audience of 32.9 million, also hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
