Putin 'couldn't care less' about United States election interference

Susan Rice reportedly issued stand down order to NSC officials in response to Russian hacking

America's leading intelligence agencies concluded past year that Putin himself had directed a broad intelligence effort to influence the United States election to undermine Clinton's campaign and boost Trump's chances, but Trump has repeatedly denied colluding with Moscow.

Putin discussed the indictment filed by special counsel Robert Mueller last month as part of an exclusive interview to NBC's Megyn Kelly aired on Friday night under the title "Confronting Putin", which touched on several topics including the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the USA election.

Putin responded brusquely when interviewer Megyn Kelly asked if he condoned the interference that was alleged in last month's USA indictment by special counsel Robert Mueller.

"So what if they're Russians?"

Putin said Moscow could not prosecute anyone for the alleged meddling because no evidence has been presented showing that Russian law has been violated.

He then spoke about the accusations saying "so what if they're Russians?" he added "there are 146 million Russians. I couldn't care less. They do not represent the interests of the Russian state".

Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to cooperate with the opposition if it tries to strengthen the country.

Putin was asked by NBC's Megyn Kelly if he ever reads U.S. leader Donald Trump's posts on Twitter. Give us an official request.

"Could anyone really believe that Russian Federation, thousands of miles away, influenced the outcome of the election?"

The indictment alleges that starting in 2014, the Kremlin-backed Russian Internet Research Agency tried to disrupt the USA political process and sow discord through stealing US identities and falsely claiming to be US activists. "I do not know either", he said. "Doesn't that sound ridiculous even to you?" he said.

Trump has also hinted that he gives Putin the benefit of the doubt when he denies that Moscow interfered. Throughout the interview, Putin continued to dismiss the claims that the meddling had come at the orders of the Russian government. Asked if he believes the chemical weapons attacks - which have reportedly killed many, including children - are fake news, Putin said, "Of course". Mr. Trump has said he never said Russian Federation did not meddle. "Well, Donald is a more modern person", the Russian leader told the journalist.
