India downplays Pakistani envoy's recall over harassment incidents

Sources in India said that on 16 February the Indian high commissioner met the foreign secretary of Pakistan to lodge a protest against multiple acts of hooliganism against Indian properties and personnel

Nuclear-armed neighbours India and Pakistan have a history of bitter relations, often accusing each other's diplomatic staff of spying. Pakistani diplomatic sources that claim doorbells are being rung and phone calls being received by their diplomats at odd hours.

Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Faisal said the Indian government failed to take notice of the increasing incidents of intimidation of Pakistani diplomats, their families and staffers by its intelligence agencies.

"This is pretty normal and pretty routine also in nature", Kumar said. He added: "Consultations by any resident ambassador/high commissioner with their headquarters is a matter for that country". Since the Indian side felt that this was done by Pakistan's security agencies, it was informed that the Pakistan deputy high commissioner Syed Haider Shah's doorbell was also rung at 3 am in next few days. However, the spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Raveesh Kumar called the development a routine practice and said it was not a recall by Pakistan.

The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said unknown people followed a vehicle on Tuesday carrying the children of a senior diplomat as they were returning from school, and took videos and photographs. This is something which should be taken up through established diplomatic channels and not published in media. "We expect them to look into & resolve those issues".

Faisal today alleged that this deliberate continuing bullying was not confined to a single isolated event and "continues unabated despite repeated official protests lodged with the Indian High Commission here, and also with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs at the highest (level)".

"Indian political parties should also follow this act", he asserted.

Genoa & Cagliari players told about Astori's death
The whole Football World is stunned after the news has spread like wildfire. "I can't believe it's real". Survivors include his wife, Francesca Fioretti; their 2-year-old daughter, Vittoria; and his parents.

Pakistan can go to any limits for the safeguard of its diplomats, he added.

The unprecedented action taken by Islamabad, which is expected to further plunge the India-Pakistan ties, comes a day after Pakistani media said India's Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh was summoned over the "inaction" taken by New Delhi in the harassment case.

The incidents are part of a continuing trend that started last week on Wednesday when a senior diplomat's vehicle was stopped and damaged.

While Pakistan some days ago issued a "foreign policy" to India saying it was becoming hard for its diplomats to function in Delhi, sources here said the present round of antagonism was initiated by an ISI raid on a residential complex under construction for Indian diplomats in Islamabad.

"Indian High Commission in Pakistan is facing many issues".
