Ravens targeting Crabtree after Grant fails physical

Ryan Grant not be headed to Baltimore after all

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Crabtree signed a $21 million deal.

"He is a smart, tough, physical receiver who battles for the ball", Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said in a statement. The 30-year-old wideout had at least eight touchdowns for the third straight season but recorded only 58 receptions for 618 yards.

A former first-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers, Crabtree has 579 catches for 6,870 yards and 51 touchdowns in 125 games (122 starts) across nine National Football League seasons. The 2014 fifth-round pick by Washington had 84 receptions, 985 receiving yards and six touchdowns in his four seasons with the Redskins. Ahead of them coming to terms with Crabtree on Friday, the Ravens signed former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown to one-year contract on Wednesday that has a base value of $5 million.

The Ravens have seen plenty of Crabtree.

"Michael has played very well against the Ravens, so we know firsthand the attributes he brings to the game".

ESPN shuffles Sean McDonough out of 'Monday Night Football' booth
He also spent 10 years at CBS Sports when he was the network's lead college football play-by-play announcer from 1997 to 1999. ESPN has yet to comment on the report - or who could potentially replace McDonough in the aftermath.

In the two career games that Crabtree has played against the Pittsburgh Steelers he has caught a total of 11 passes for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Jeremy Maclin has been released, and Mike Wallace and Michael Campanaro are free agents.

The former Raiders wide receiver signed a deal with the Ravens Friday.

Crabtree is taking over the possession receiver role that Baltimore had once envisioned for Ryan Grant. "It's a medical decision that I had no control over", Newsome said.
