Boy, 9, kills older sister over video game console by shooting her

Sheriff Boy shoots sister after argument over video game controller

A 13-year-old girl in Mississippi, USA, lost her life when shot by her 9-year-old brother cause she wouldn't let him play a video game, the police said, according to the BBC.

We are learning more about the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old girl in Monroe County that law enforcement says was committed by her 9-year-old brother.

The boy grabbed a handgun, which was kept in a nightstand next to the bed, and shot the sister in the back of the head, the sheriff said. The girl was rushed to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis but doctors were unable to save her.

The case is now under investigation with Sheriff Cantrell saying he does not yet know what consequences the boy faces, adding that he has never had a case involving such a young shooter.

It is also unclear what consequences the nine-year-old will face.

"He's just nine", said Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell. "We want to do what's right and we're going to get it right". "I do know it's a tragedy".

This is not the first time that a child got access to a firearm. When parents are held responsible, then perhaps parents will begin to behave responsibly when they know they may be held accountable'. Apparently, the teenager, identified as Dijonae White, was playing with the console game when the young suspect approached her, asking for the controller.
