Jets rescind offer for free agent DT Ndamukong Suh

Ndamukong Suh is on the open market after the Dolphins opted not to bring him back

New York Jets CEO Christopher Johnson confirmed the team rescinded its contract offer to free-agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reported Sunday.

Gang Green's approach made flawless sense given that an open-ended offer might allow the three-time All-Pro to potentially leverage it to get more loot from another team.

Suh has said the Jets made the largest offer, something Johnson couldn't confirm.

Johnson told reporters that pursuing Suh, "wasn't keeping with our long-term plan".

The Suh sweepstakes now appear to be down to the Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans.

Loyola-Chicago vs. Kansas State 2018 live stream
At the 1964 Final Four, Kansas State lost to John Wooden's UCLA Bruins, the eventual national champions, 90-82, in the semifinals. The Ramblers of Loyola-Chicago have been thriving and surviving in their first three games of the NCAA tournament.

"Our thinking just changed a bit". I had a lot of discussion with [GM] Mike [Maccagnan] about this... "That's where I have to leave it".

It was a great sign that he canceled his trip to Oakland, eliminating another potential landing spot for Suh.

Ndamukong Suh won't become a New York Jet. In free agency this year, every player Maccagnan has signed, apart from 39-year-old quarterback Josh McCown, has been 28 or younger, and the team, coming off consecutive 5-11 seasons, has little reason to think that it's one veteran piece away from becoming a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

The staff felt that Suh, 31, could be a valuable addition, a disruptive player who could draw extra blockers. The owner added he wasn't involved when the offer was made to Suh, per SNY. "It was a pretty high offer; all these good guys will be a lot of money". Johnson himself described Suh as "one of the best football players out there", but he evidently didn't want him on his team.
