Macron weighing his response to 'red line' violation by Syria

President Macron’s self-confidence was mocked by François Hollande

In a statement issued shortly after huge explosions were heard in Damascus, he said: 'We can not tolerate the normalisation of the use of chemical weapons'.

'I have ordered the French army to intervene tonight as part of the global operation in coalition with the USA and Britain directed against the secret chemical arsenal of the Syrian regime, ' he said.

Mr. Trump described a very specific type of target that the USA would go after, which are Syria's chemical weapon capabilities.

Trump spoke today with President Emmanuel Macron of France to discuss our collective response to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's use of chemical weapons on April 7.

In a statement Friday night, U.S. President Donald Trump outlined strikes being carried out against the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad after a chemical weapon attack earlier in the week. That acknowledged that Syria had crossed a red line that Mr Macron set a year ago promising French military action if the use of gas was confirmed.

If they keep taking penalties and giving up that many shots Elliott is going to have to be the difference in the series. "They still have to win two more to put us out, and we're going to battle on home ice to get that back".

Macron, who had made the use of chemical weapons a "red line" not to be crossed, bemoaned Russia's use this week of its veto to block a UN Security Council resolution on setting up an investigation into the attack that would name those responsible.

Macron, tweeted a picture of himself in a meeting with army chiefs and concerned ministers.

The French presidency issued a video on Twitter showing what it said were Rafale war planes taking off in an intervention against the chemical weapons facilities of the Syrian regime.

The Elysee presidential palace did not specify where the planes were taking off and provided no further details.

The air strikes are over but the military is ready to act upon request, the source said.
