European Union member states vote to ban neonicotinoids
Some restrictions were introduced in 2013 , banning their use on a number of crops including wheat, barley and oats. European Commission officials hope the ban will come into force by the end of the year.

The Ontario Securities Commission, meanwhile, referred all questions regarding the outage back to the exchange.

The S&P/TSX Index was up 31 points or 0.2 per cent at 1:39 p.m., the last time Friday's trading volume was updated on all charts.

Canada's stock market, the world's sixth-largest, abruptly shut down on Friday after an outage cut market participants off the main exchanges but will resume trading on Monday after resolving "internal technical issues", the exchange operator said.

The outage was not due to "a hack", a Toronto Stock Exchange spokesman said. The five-largest stocks traded in the Toronto Stock Exchange are the Royal Bank of Canada, Toronto-Dominion Bank, Bank of Nova Scotia, Suncor Energy and Canadian National Railway. Trading continued on other exchanges throughout Canada, including Nasdaq's exchanges.
