Former assistant to Robert Mueller: Leaked questions likely from the White House

ImageRobert S. Mueller III the special

The U.S. leader derided special counsel Robert Mueller's probe, said it was "disgraceful" that more than four dozen questions investigators want to ask Trump were leaked in a The New York Times story and contended that it would be "very hard" to obstruct the probe if, as he says, there was no collusion with Russian Federation to help him win the election.

The list includes inquiries about Trump's firings of former FBI Director James Comey, who headed the Russian Federation investigation before he was dismissed in May 2017, and former national security adviser Michael Flynn, the Times reported.

As the Times reports, "Mueller has sought for months to question the president, who has in turn expressed a desire, at times, to be interviewed, viewing it as an avenue to end the inquiry more quickly".

Mr. Mueller is investigating alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, possible collusion with the Trump campaign and whether the President has unlawfully tried to obstruct the probe.

In a second tweet, President Trump said: "It would seem very hard to obstruct justice for a crime that never happened".

The lawyers want to resolve the investigation as quickly as possible, but there's no agreement on how to do that. The report did find that leaks from the intelligence community after Trump's inauguration "damaged national security and potentially endangered lives". "Witch Hunt!" Trump added. As head of the FBI, Mr. Comey was leading the investigation before he was sacked by Mr. Trump in May 2017.

Trump's casual lie about the nature of Mueller's questions illustrates why his legal advisers think it's risky for the president to sit down for an interview with the special counsel.

North Korean Denuclearization: What it Might Look Like
The site, located in Punggye-re in North Korea's mountainous north-east, has been used for six nuclear tests in the past 12 years. Meanwhile, Trump has imposed a 25 per cent tariff on steel and aluminium imported to the United States.

At the core of the collusion allegations is the so-called Steele dossier, a compilation of opposition research on Trump funded by the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

But talks stalled after Federal Bureau of Investigation agents raided the home and office of longtime Trump personal attorney Michael Cohen - a move prompted in part by a referral from Mueller's office.

A few questions reveal that Mr. Mueller is still investigating possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

Trump blasted the leak on Tuesday morning, calling it "disgraceful" that the questions made it out to the media. Mr. Comey's notes say that Mr. Trump raised concerns about the Steele Dossier and said he needed loyalty from his F.B.I. director.

What knowledge did Trump have of any outreach by his presidential campaign, including Manafort, to Russian Federation about possible assistance to the campaign?

"It's a risky strategy, because these questions tell a powerful story about the case, even without answers by Trump", she added.

Since the questions were published late Monday, speculation has focused on the likelihood that the list was leaked by a member of Trump's legal team, or someone who obtained it from them.
